How Our Virtual Assistants Use GMail Labs For Productivity

As of April 2018, as many as 1.4 billion people are using Gmail. Chances are, if you’re one of those 1.4 billion people using Gmail - and you're an entrepreneur or small business owner - you aren’t tapping into its full potential.

In 2018, Gmail added extra features to help you streamline the way you read and reply to messages. These features will help you save time as a business owner and become a Gmail master.

First things first, you need to enable the Gmail Labs add-on in 4 easy steps:

  • Click on the Gear icon present at the top right.

  • Select Setting > Labs.

  • Click on Enable radio button to activate specific lab (i.e., canned responses, google calendar gadget, preview pane, etc.)

  • and Save Changes.

Canned Responses are a huge time saver for our Virtual Assistants Enabling this feature allows you to use common pre-written messages like “Thanks for sending over that task. I will begin it right away” or “You're welcome, let me know how else I can help you!”. Being able to personalize and save each response will keep you from rewriting those frequently used replies.

Another time saving feature is the Preview Pane. Reading an email next to your mail splits the screen into a browse screen and read screen. Keeping you from jumping back and forth between the home page and an email.

Finally, the Google Calendar gadget adds a calendar box which displays all upcoming events, locations, and details on the left side of the Gmail inbox. At a glance you can keep track of important events or meetings without leaving your mailbox.

Enabling these features, and many others, is a sure-fire way to boost your productivity in email management.

What are some of your favorite features for Gmail Labs? How have they helped you increase productivity?
