The magic happens when you trust your VA to make decisions. Start small. Let them handle routine stuff without checking with you first. Yes, they might do things differently than you would. That’s okay. Different doesn’t mean wrong.
4: Use Technology (But Don’t Go Crazy)
Tech can be a game-changer, but don’t overcomplicate things. Start with basics: shared calendars, project management tools, maybe some automation.
If you’re in specialized industries, say you’re running online betting operations, you might need specific tools. Something like Skrill for handling transactions can streamline your financial processes.
But make sure your VA actually knows how to use whatever you’re implementing. I once spent a fortune on fancy software that my VA never touched because I forgot to train them on it. Learn from my expensive mistake.
5: Treat Them Like a Person
Your VA isn’t a robot. They have strengths, weaknesses, and probably better ideas than you think.
Take time to understand what they’re good at. Maybe they’re amazing at social media but terrible at data entry. Work with that, not against it.
Celebrate wins. Say thank you. If they save you 10 hours a week, acknowledge it. Happy VAs stick around longer and work harder. Unhappy ones disappear faster than free pizza at a startup.
